After months of teasers, the second-generation Volkswagen T-Roc has finally been launched. Globally, the T-Roc is one of the most popular SUVs, and therefore has received a lot of anticipation. The bookings for the 2026 Volkswagen T-Roc are open in the European countries, though the German car company has not made any announcements regarding the launch in India.
Hybrid Powertrains
The T-Roc now has a fully hybrid powertrain, which marks it as the first Volkswagen vehicle to be equipped with such a system, making it the most significant feature of the new T-Roc. Although its exact specifications remain undisclosed, we anticipate it to be a blend of a petrol engine and a small electric motor.
In other markets, the SUV will also be available with mild hybrid systems, which will include the 1.5-litre 4-cylinder petrol engine as well as the 2.0-litre unit. The 1.5-litre eTSI engine will be available with power outputs of 116PS and 150PS. The higher trims will come with the 2.0-litre mild-hybrid powertrain and will feature the 4WD system. A T-Roc R variant, in its performance-tuned form, is also scheduled for release.
Notable Traits of the 2026 VW T-Roc
The T-Roc’s latest generation has grown, now spanning 4,373 mm in length, putting it 120 mm ahead of the previous version. The roomy interior now includes a premium upgrade of materials and technology. The highlights within the vehicle include:
- New 13-inch touchscreen infotainment system
- Fabric-covered dashboard
- Ambient lighting setup
- 10-inch digital instrument cluster

The vehicle’s sharper, more contemporary look is now one of the defining features of the SUV. LED headlamps come as standard, and IQ.LIGHT matrix lights can be purchased as an add-on. The front fascia is adorned with the striking VW logo that is illuminated and connected by a light strip, whilst the rear is fitted with a glossy emblem and full-width LED bar. The SUV is also equipped with bold 20-inch alloy wheels.
