Maruti Escudo SUV Level-2 ADAS, Dolby Atmos & Hybrid Power Await!

Maruti Suzuki is gearing up to launch its new midsize SUV, currently known as the Maruti Escudo, on 3rd September 2025 through its Arena dealerships. This will mark Maruti’s second foray into the midsize SUV segment, taking on established rivals such as the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Skoda Kushaq, Volkswagen Taigun, Honda Elevate, and Toyota Hyryder. While the official name is yet to be confirmed, leaked images and spy shots have already generated significant buzz among SUV enthusiasts.

Advanced Features and Technology

The upcoming SUV is expected to bring several firsts for Maruti in India. Reports suggest that it could come with Level-2 ADAS (Autonomous Driver Assistance System), making it the first Maruti model with semi-autonomous driving capabilities.

In terms of entertainment, the SUV might feature Dolby Atmos audio, a premium sound system recently seen in Mahindra BE and XEV 9e SUVs. Other modern conveniences could include a powered tailgate, a feature even competitors like the Hyundai Creta don’t offer, enhancing ease of use for daily commuting and luggage handling.

Performance and Powertrain Options

Sharing engines with the Grand Vitara, the Escudo SUV may come with a proper 4WD system for enhanced off-road capabilities. Multiple powertrain options are expected, including a Toyota-sourced 1.5L hybrid setup delivering 92 bhp with a 79 bhp electric motor. Additionally, this SUV could become the first Maruti to offer an underbody CNG kit, keeping the boot space free for passengers and cargo.

Size, Positioning, and Pricing

Leaked reports indicate that the Escudo will be slightly larger than the Grand Vitara, offering more boot capacity. In Maruti’s lineup, it will be positioned between the Brezza and Grand Vitara, and once launched, it is set to become the flagship model in Arena showrooms.

The base variant is expected to start around ₹9–10 lakh (ex-showroom), while the top trims could be priced up to ₹18–19 lakh, giving it a competitive edge in the midsize SUV segment. With cutting-edge features, multiple powertrain options, and premium touches, the Maruti Escudo is shaping up to be a strong contender in India’s growing SUV market.
